The studio opened in South Africa with the aim of creating high-quality handcrafted products. Designed and made in small batches in Stellenbosch, South Africa, by Jeanneke Malan and her amazing team of female artisans. Each of whom is individually trained and has learned the skills. They are using the best local materials they can find and each product is carefully designed and produced. "They believe in quality over quantity and prefer handwork over machine whenever possible. Our designs are inspired by a love for nature, texture, natural materials, and ancient crafting techniques". All this is combined to create modern design objects.
The products they use are locally sourced. They are made from 100% cotton and grown locally by South African farmers who are members of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). The cotton they use is more sustainably produced and meets the UN’s goals to achieve better global water sustainability and agriculture.
We collaborate with them because firstly we think they make beautiful products. In addition, we strongly share their values since they believe in empowering women. They aim to work with the local community and strive to create work for unemployed women in the area.
